education
The Horizons Project Science Education Page is a resource for teachers participating in the Horizons Project. In this area you will find links to education resources, project ideas and learning tools all related to atmospheric science and the Horizons Project. The continual development of this site is dependent on input from educators and students. If you are interested in a particular concept or data set, or have good curriculum you want to contribute, please send us your ideas and suggestions.
projects
The Projects section of the Horizons Education section lists examples of science inquiry projects and researched based learning activities that have been done by horizons participants. There are also suggestions for projects that have been sent in by teachers, students and Horizons Staff.
curriculum
Making the transition from the field to the classroom is always a sizeable challenge for a teacher. Each year we ask our teacher participants to explain how they will use the research they have done at our institute in the classroom. The product of the work is shown in their Curriculum Implementation Plans (CIPs). Beyond these plans Horizons Teachers and Staff have developed some additional resources and lesson plans.
workshops
The Workshops section details the activities of each of our Summer Institutes, Fall/Winter follow up workshops, and Spring Environmental Conferences. The Summer Institutes provide an introduction the the project, training with technology and material, as well as research experiences.  Our follow-up workshops focus on continued work with technology addressing specific issues with implementation, and a preview of coming work. The Spring Conference has been scheduled to coincide with the Stewards of the Environment Student Conference. Last year the Horizons Project organized and hosted the conference and we look forward to this coming spring when more students from Horizons will be showing off their work over the next year.
measurement campaign
The Measurement Campaign is the official intensive data collection period each year for participating schools to collect additional supplemental data that can be used with the Horizons Data Network for more specific research projects during the school year. The activity itself provides an oppurtunity for students around the area to do research.
resources
The Education resource page offers help in finding software needed to do research, links to tutorials and references, and links to other sites that can be of help in the classroom.
